Pay-for-Performance Webinar Series Set for June 20 Start

EMRlogic (OD Professional) and Gulden Ophthalmics (Image Consultant) have teamed up to sponsor a series of webinars beginning Wednesday, June 20, 2007.  Optometrists will have opportunity to join in interactive presentations on the Medicare "Pay-for-Performance" program and its implications for optometric practice.  Throughout the series we will examine what we can expect during and after the voluntary pay-for-performance period (July-Dec 2007) as well as other cost and quality control measures soon to be implemented across healthcare delivery and reimbursement systems.  

The first web conference, "Is Pay-for-Performance Here to Stay?", will be offered multiple times on the 20th and 21st of June (see schedule below).  After a brief review of what has led to the current pay-for-performance program under Medicare, we will consider the forces driving healthcare reform and what we can expect as a continuation of the program.  Webinar #1 will introduce the committees and organizations with which CMS is working to achieve quality improvements and cost reductions, and will provide web links for monitoring their progress.  

Most important, the conference will include a discussion of steps optometrists should be taking now to position their practices for the changes to come and how best to utilize the complete pay-for-performance webinar series to understand and prepare for the changes arising from this important healthcare reform process.
